names.
STUDIO GYPSY .... STUDIOGYPSY.... STUDIO GYPSY... STUDIOGYPSY...
i have to express some frustration here. i know, you're probably thinking - why - right before the gorgeous beautiful holidays... well, it has been eeking my mind for the past week and i have to unload it somewhere... :P
it has everything to do with my image - my website - my artwork - my title. StudioGypsy was a name i chose back in 2006 for my website... it encompasses everything about me and my work. i am constantly in a state of wandering with my artwork, within in my studio. i loved coming up with this title. i loved creating my website, my blog with this original chosen title and using it as my image - that was solely mine back in that year.
but after doing some research, i recently discovered someone else has chosen this same name - and much later in time than i had chosen it. it sinks a deep pain in me and i can't figure out how to go about fixing this. besides forking over $400+ in fees to trademark my name - of which i have no budget for.
but you would think that people who want to create a product with a specific name - would do some research on it and if it was already being used - they would use another name - don't you think? they would seek to be original in their own right. in my opinion, this is common courtesy. politeness. kindness. not copying someone else's words.
ahh.... what more can i say?

I totally understand.....I don't know who's using it, but I found a similar name to my threadhead that's why I decided to go with my own name....
ReplyDeleteIs there a way to contact that party with proof of your earlier use of the name?
It is possible they are not aware of how to search? Sorry love, but I would want to separate my name from that one even though I loved it so!
It is definitely horrendous! If your is a copy writed name is there some legal action you can take?
ReplyDeleteOf course that takes $.
PS I adore the sock animals. Kookie and Krazy!
thanks for the comments, dolls.
ReplyDeleteg. i'm hesitant to contact them...fear of a defensive individual? who knows... i think i'll just ride it out and see what happens... i should put the Copyright date on my website - i have the current year but i should go back to when i started it.
