wooly kool-aid.
i've been playing with wool again. recently i had purchased domestic wool roving in a really drab gray - which i decided needed more color. heard somewhere that you could dye wool with kool-aid. did a search and voila found these two great sites that were really helpful! stovetop and microwave.
tho - i have tweaked the method a bit further - as i wanted to use the stovetop with almost boiling water but i also wanted it to come out with many colors rather than just one color. so - i used a shallow frying pan with almost boiling water - submerged my wool roving, gently into it - soaking up the entire water - then i sprinkled kool-aid colors onto different areas of the wool. i let it sit for an hour. rinsed it out and the colors went through all the layers. i am a happy girl!
Great! haven't tried dying wool yet....I love the technique! Makes sense rather than using a whole bunch of containers!!!Way to go!
